Noah Powell Live

An emotional and amazing evening was had on Tuesday, July 9th, 2013 at the Durham County Library in NC.  Our film screened to a packed house and we were all fortunate to see and hear Noah and her trio perform live.

Dear friend Alison Weiner had this to say about the event, “Last night was VERY special, the sort of experience every artist hopes to have when presenting a labor of love. Thanks to the Durham Public Library, Nic Beery had an opportunity to present “Noah’s Arc-ReBirth of a Jazz Singer”, a documentary about Durham resident Noah Powell. Created in large part by Durham high school students in Nic’s Full Frame filmmaking program last summer, Nic brought the film to completion, and it was enthusiastically received by a full house Durham audience.

Noah walks his story every day, one day at a time. Nic put Noah’s story into a form which can reach many more folks who otherwise might not know about Noah. Last night, the story was heard and embraced by a home crowd – affirming the great effort Nic put into creating the film, and especially supporting Noah as he continues to travel a clean and sober path, with gratitude and honesty, singing his heart out along the way.

I am honored to know these men and call them my friends. Check out the doc for yourself….”

Here are three tunes from the event.  It captures the beauty and magic of the evening.

Nic Chat and Lovely Day –

Betty Carter tune –

Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay –

This evening was special for so many reasons. Many of Noah’s friends that had not seen him in many years were there.  They didn’t know what he had been through and were so warmly receptive of Noah’s return to the spotlight, clean and sober.

Special thanks to Joanne Abel at the library for setting this up and doing a great job getting the word out. Also thanks to Noah, Alison Weiner and Casey Toll for the music.
